Shawarma King in Houston

This is an easy access location, I had my order to go. The service was fast, fairly priced but, It lacks flavor. I won’t go out of my way to order again.

We arrived on a Wednesday at 9:30 PM and the cashier was having a smoke outside. The dining room was completely empty and the employees were on cruise control waiting for the clock to hit closing time.We made our way to the counter to order food and were greeted by a cook who was manhandling the trash cans. She ended up using hand sanitizer afterwards, although I wish she'd have washed her hands, instead.The cashier made his way inside as we got our order ready. He seemed impatient with us as we debated our order amongst ourselves. In the end, we ordered some fries, hummus, a beef shawarma, and a few chicken shawarmas. The fries were not salted and the hummus was overly salty. The chicken shawarma was incredibly dry and the bread was warm but the contents inside were tasteless, dry, and barely even warm.The employees began clean up as we force fed ourselves the meals we had regretfully ordered and the cashier closed shop early to ensure there wouldn't be any more victims on this day.

Food is very good and pricing is extremely reasonable.

I ordered the Chicken shawarma, Beef shawarma, and the hummus and everything was excellent. Workers were very welcoming and attentive. I will be back!

I used to loooove this place - it was hands down the best shawarma in town. Every time I’ve gone lately (in the past year or so) the staff is rude and couldn’t care less about service, and the food product they’re putting out is sub par. Today they had me wait 10 min (totally fine) so I sat in the car. When I walked back in they hadn’t even started on my order and were busy on one of their regulars who came in. At some point one of the guys making food told the woman who cleared tables to do something or walk around to look like she was working? I don’t know exactly it was just a really weird and disappointing experience. I really hope they get the staff back in order because this is such a cool spot and I usually recommend it to everyone in Houston.

Fresh bread, humus, shwarma...the food has heft!

Eggplant was cold like it came out of the fridge. Didn't get any pita bread with my plate. Didn't get any condiments. Waited for 30 minutes while they were arguing with each other. They didn't write down the orders and were confused. The vibe was bad.

Tried their Chicken shawarma and they truly lived up to their name. So far, the best shawarma I have tried in Houston.

Great food and staff. Came here about 10 years ago and been coming every now and then since. They’re on UberEats too if you want to order in. Definitely recommend.

Superb little place!

One of my all time favorites! I remembered this place recently from several years ago. I came back and everything was as good as I remembered or better. Beautiful, deep flavors and great service. Garaunteed an excellent meal! 🤤

I absolutely LOVED the feel of this spot ON A SUNDAY!!! Great customer service, except for the young bartender that over added her tip to the price of my first food order. It was corrected immediately once brought to the attention of the management by the other bartender after ordering the same thing from her BECAUSE IT WAS THAT GOOD!!! 😋 We had the boudin balls, macaroni balls and buffalo wings!!! FIRE!!! The hookah service was excellent and the DJ was ON POINT!!! I can't wait to come back to visit!!! 😊

Great value! You get a serving of meat and three sides. I tried the hummus, pasta and rice. Everything was great and pita bread comes with it and you can always ask for more.

I have been going here for years. It is just an old school shawarma wrap joint. It has a garden like patio where you can eat, talk and watch the world go by or you can eat inside. They have various dishes and plate combos. The food is good and the price is cheap. They have pita chips that you can eat as you like. The staff is friendly and the owner is very hospitable. The food is always hot and yummy.

First time, service is great, you must try their chicken shawarma sandwich it is the best I have had so far in Houston ☺️ definitely will be coming again for it.

The staff confidently said it would be great, and it was great! We split a chicken shawarma plate and a beef shawarma sandwhich, both were delicious. Out of the sides, the hummus and Tabouleh stood out as the best. The staff was friendly and helped us order when we were a little confused initially. Overall a great experience, if I lived in Houston I would certainly be a regular here!

Great Mediterranean food place. We had Showarma wrap with beef and it was so good. Also you have to try the Arabic sweets available in the place.

If you like shawarma's and don't care much about the ambience then this place is for you. They have been there since long and the shawarma's are great over all.

These guys make solid shawarma sandwiches! My favorite one is the meat shwarma. They also have some awesome drinks that you usually can't find in all the other sandwich shops. Like the Vimto!

Cozy little Middle Eastern restaurant. Great tasting food in a hybrid between cafeteria and restaurant setting. Customer service is great and the different options in food makes it for a place to bring anyone. Good traditional meats, great vegetarian options, and lamb is also on the menu. It will be very difficult to eat here and not leave satisfied.

Got a chicken shawarma plate. It comes with three sides, pita, garlic and chilli sauce. I would rate it one of the best shawarma I've had so far! The rice has a really nice flavor to it too! I would go visit again! But I just think that ~$14.50 for the platter with taxes is a bit pricey!

Great Mediterranean food! I had chicken kabobs with spicy potatoes, baba genouche, and eggplant. They had to cook the kabobs so it took about 10 minutes, but it was worth the wait! I will definitely be coming back!

Highly not recommended, I just wasted money, shawarma sandwich looks good from the outside, but it tastes the opposite

Shawarma King continues to be the best shawarma around, and their baklava is seriously good, maybe also the best around. My pics include a chicken shawarma (minus the tomato), pistachio baklava, and a Vimto to wash it all down. Great service, great food, very reasonable prices.

I really want to like this more. The food however is good but not as good before. This is mostly due to quality control. For example, the chicken in the shwarma used to always be tender. I know they didn’t cook it fresh but they at least made sure it was covered properly. The last few times have been met with dry and stale chicken that no amount of garlic sauce can salvage.

Reminds me of my mother home cooking. Not expensive. Excellent service. Everytime we drive from lafayette to Houston we have to stop.

I have been going here for 19 plus years now. Constantly good service and great food. Mixed shawarma plate is my go to. It is all so good and they have a whole squirt bottle of hot sauce on each table! Shawarma and hot sauce goes together like peas and carrots!

This is a place that cannot be judged by it's cover. Just a seedy little joint in one of a dozen step centers lining Hilcroft. Hummus to die for! Roasted eggplant that melts in your mouth. The rest... meh. The lamb kabob dry and disappointing. The people were friendly and have good service. May go again for the hummus. Who knows?

They were out of lamb 😔but that did not take away from the other great food they had. We ordered a beef Shawarma and a 2 protein plate with fried cauliflower, spicy potatoes, and rice. Everything was amazing and the prices were extremely reasonable!

The staff were very kind and welcoming. It was difficult for me to decide what to order, so they helped me. I only ordered something to take home, but it was still a positive experience.

HIT- Good food, well maintained, friendly owner and staff, delicious dessert. 👍MISS- parking maybe a problem at peak hours. This a good Mediterranean restaurant located in a small strip mall. The restaurant is very clean with a old fashioned setup. The owner is very friendly and welcoming. The food is very delicious would definitely go again. I recommend the half grilled chicken, it has a good spicy flavour to it but not too spicy and well cooked. It comes with 3 sides and you can choose what you want and not to forget the yummy garlic sauce which is served along. The falafel wrap was good but wasn't the best. Lamb kabob wrap was not to my liking I expected something similar to a gyro meat but it was big chunks of lamb pieces wrapped inside along with veggies and sauces. The meat was little chewy and lacked flavour. The dessert, lady fingers was the best! It had the correct combination of sweet and nuts baked to perfection. This is highly recommended👍

My husband and I were talking about his day this evening and he could not stop raving about Shawarma King. He said how nice the gentlemen was who greeted him, so grateful he was there and was genuinely excited to give him his delicious meal (that he has not stopped talking about). He ordered the chicken shawarma, hummus, and tabbouleh and highly recommends it! I can’t wait to go back with him...in the meantime, I had to write a review on his behalf because he was speaking so kindly about the restaurant I thought the world should know!
